Over the past few months, I've been seeing so many beautiful mom walk clubs pop up across Orange County and the Inland Empire — and I love it.
Mothers gathering. Fresh air. Support. Connection.
But it made me realize something.
I've never seen a walk created specifically for birthworkers.
As doulas, midwives, nurses, lactation consultants, therapists, and postpartum professionals, we hold so much space for others. We support families through pregnancy, birth, recovery, and some of the most vulnerable transitions in their lives.
We advocate.
We educate.
We show up.
And yet, we rarely have intentional space to simply connect with each other.
The Emotional Labor of Birth Work
Serving mothers and babies is deeply meaningful work — but it is also emotionally demanding.
Whether you are a birth doula in Orange County, a postpartum doula in Corona, an L&D nurse in Irvine, or a lactation consultant serving the Inland Empire, you understand the weight of this work.
As a birth doula and a postpartum doula serving Orange County and the Inland Empire, I see firsthand how important sustainable support is — not only for our clients, but for the professionals doing the work.
We hold birth stories.
We hold trauma.
We hold celebration.
We hold exhaustion.
Community is not just a luxury for birthworkers. It is a necessity.
Why I Started the Birthworker Walk
After meeting so many incredible women serving families across OC and IE, it became clear that we need space to gather outside of client settings.
Not networking events.
Not formal meetings.
Not continuing education.
Just connection.
That's why I created the Birthworker Walk — a monthly walk for women serving mothers and babies across Orange County and the Inland Empire.
What Is the Birthworker Walk?
The Birthworker Walk is a simple, recurring gathering held:
- Third Thursday of every month
- 9:30 – 10:30 AM
- OC & IE (location rotates monthly)
No agenda. No pressure. No expectations. Just fresh air and community with other women who understand this work.
If you are a doula, midwife, nurse, IBCLC, pelvic floor therapist, or perinatal mental health professional — you are welcome.
Supporting Perinatal Mental Health in Our Community
Community also means knowing when deeper support is needed.
For birthworkers or mothers seeking perinatal mental health support in Orange County and the Inland Empire, I often recommend working with trusted therapists in our community.
One incredible resource is Analisa Velasco-Lopez who specializes in perinatal mental health and supports women through pregnancy, postpartum, and major life transitions.
Building strong referral networks strengthens care for everyone involved.
Serving Mothers Means Supporting Each Other
At Luna Care Studio, my work centers around continuity of care, emotional support, and advocacy for families in both Orange County and the Inland Empire.
But sustainable care also means supporting each other as professionals.
The Birthworker Walk is one small way to strengthen the fabric of our local birth community — across OC and IE.
If you are a birthworker in Southern California and feel called to connect, I would love to walk with you.
